Overview of performance monitoring¶
This page describes the performance monitoring framework in KX Sensors and its four main components.
Performance monitoring performs two critical functions in KXS:
- It surfaces operational information about system performance.
- It allows you to generate watches and alerts when certain thresholds for watched columns are reached or certain events occur.
The four main components of the performance monitoring framework are:
| Component | Description |
|---|---|
| built-in performance monitoring for each KXS process | generates and publishes performance monitoring data to their own service class-specific table |
| a performance monitoring service class called MON | receives monitoring data from all processes on the node and forwards it to MONRDB |
a configuration object for performance monitoring (config/mon.yaml) |
contains your service class-specific table handling rules used by the MON service class |
| a dedicated performance monitoring schema for each process | defined in the appropriate YAML file in the schema directory (for example, MonAgg.yaml, MonHw.yaml, MonSDL.yaml, etc.) |
Note
Monitoring data is not written to disk and is typically reset at EOD or after a process/system restart.
