Add a node¶
This page explains how to add a new node to a KX Sensors cluster and attach it to a manifest.yaml object.
A node is a complete collection of processes, service classes, data and tables that handle everything from ingestion to system recovery. Generally speaking, a node corresponds to a single physical or virtual machine; however, multiple nodes can be run on a single server or can be spread across various physical servers to better manage CPU, memory and I/O resources. Nodes are arranged in clusters with each cluster being assigned one or more feeds.
You add a new node in KX Sensors using the kxsctl add command. After adding your new node, you must attach it to a manifest.yaml object using the kxsctl manifest import command and then enable it using the kxsctl enable command.
| Syntax | kxsctl add [flags] <node name> |
|---|---|
| Flags | -n (node)-p (base port)Specifies the base port number for the node, to distinguish it from other nodes or applications that may be running on the same machine. All KX Sensors ports on the node start at this number. -m (host)Specifies the machine name of the host on which the node is to run. If not specified, the current machine is used. -u (username)The user that the node will run under (default = root) |
[root@kxsa /]# kxsctl add -n A -m kxsa.firstderivatives.com -u root -p 20000
