Develop overview¶
This page introduces the Develop section, which is for developers extending KX Sensors with custom schemas, APIs, ingestion pipelines, and packages.
The KX Sensors architecture is designed for customization. This section shows you how to define the tables, enumerations, and configuration objects your data needs, expose your own APIs, connect external feeds, and bundle your work into reusable packages.
Custom schemas¶
Define the tables and metadata that describe your data.
- Tables and schemas — how KXS tables are stored and structured
- Add tables — add new tables to your schema
- MRU tables — cache large master data tables in memory and fetch the rest on demand
- Add enumerations and flags — define enumerations and flags
- Add configuration objects — add custom configuration objects
Custom APIs¶
Expose your own query and analysis endpoints.
- APIs — how APIs work in KX Sensors
- Add APIs — define and register your own APIs
- Call APIs over REST — enable and use REST access to your APIs
Custom ingestion functions¶
Bring external data into KX Sensors.
- Add an external feed — connect a new external feed
- Set up your feeds in feed.yaml — configure feeds in
feed.yaml - Publish and subscribe to a message queue — integrate with a message queue
Custom packages¶
- Custom packages — bundle your customizations into reusable packages
Where to next¶
- Architecture — understand the system you are extending
- Configure and Deploy — configure, tune, and deploy your customizations
- Operate — run and monitor a live deployment
